"Developing Mutual Respect"
A Domestic Abuse Awareness Seminar

An Interactive Seminar Exploring Mutually Respectful Relationships and Behavioural Patterns of Coercive Control and Abuse.

These are bespoke interactive seminars designed to fulfil particular needs for specific audiences.

The seminars and courses will encourage participants to consider how healthy relationships work. An important aim is to highlight some of the behaviours that constitute coercive control or domestic abuse. The seminars enable participants to understand the effects on individuals and families in DA situations. It also helps them identify signs and signals of control early in relationships. Finally, participants explore how our culture and environment influence the high prevalence of abusive behaviour and consider societal patterns critically.

What we offer in the domestic abuse (DA) awareness seminar

  • One 3-hour session with two facilitators.

  • Small group guided discussions.

  • Short-focused interactions.

  • A non-judgmental and respectful format.

  • A compassionate exploration of society's role in the development of abuse.

  • Signposting to local support agencies for anyone affected by DA

This seminar can be delivered either face-to-face when appropriate or remotely, using a safe online platform.

About

Janine Cole

I graduated from Reading University with a B.Ed honours degree in Education. I later qualified with a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties. I have taught in the British state system, private schools, and international schools in Switzerland, Belgium and the U.S.
On returning to Britain I began working with victims of Domestic Abuse. I ran the “Freedom Programme” for a charity which I passionately championed for the last 20 years.

In response to understanding DA victim’s needs I went on to deliver resilience courses for victims and their children to aid rehabilitation after living in an abusive relationship. This work led me to learn about Acceptance and Commitment Training and together with my colleague, we developed seminars, workshops and courses to promote mutual respect in relationships and emotional well-being.
